Alex Dilger, PT, DPT | Mindful Motion Physio | Sellersburg, IN

I'm Alex — owner and physical therapist at Mindful Motion Physio in Sellersburg, Indiana.

I created Mindful Motion because I wanted to offer the kind of physical therapy people often need but do not always get: focused, personal, hands-on care with enough time to actually understand what is going on.

At Mindful Motion, every session is one-on-one for a full hour. That means I have time to listen, assess how your body moves, provide hands-on care, and build a plan around your goals — not just your diagnosis.

Why I Opened Mindful Motion

After about ten years working in outpatient physical therapy clinics, I knew something was missing.

It was not the clinical skills. It was the time.

In a high-volume clinic setting, there is rarely enough space to really listen — to hear not just what a patient says, but what their body is showing. To notice how one area affects another. To watch how someone moves and understand what that tells you about what is driving the problem.

I wanted more time with my patients. More room to look beyond one painful area. More freedom to treat the person in front of me rather than working around a rushed schedule and documentation demands.

That is what became Mindful Motion.

Physical therapy should not feel rushed. It should not feel like you are just doing your home exercises in a different room while someone checks in from across the room. And it should not feel cookie-cutter — because your body, your history, and your goals are not.

I built Mindful Motion so patients could have one room, one therapist, and one full hour of focused care.

How I think about care

As a physical therapist, I look at how your body works together — not just where symptoms show up.

Pain may start in one area, but your movement patterns, strength, mobility, posture, daily habits, work setup, sleep position, and old injuries can all play a role in how your body feels and functions.

I listen to what you tell me. And I listen to what your body shows me.

That means watching how you move, feeling how tissue responds, noticing what changes when I assess one area and how that affects another. Those details often matter just as much as the symptoms you came in with.

Your care may include hands-on manual therapy, movement assessment, mobility and strength work, education, and a home exercise program that supports what we are working on between visits. And because your body changes, your treatment can change too — from visit to visit, based on what you need that day.

This is why I do this work

One of my patients came to me after being told she may need cervical spine surgery. She chose to try physical therapy first.

Her most recent imaging showed improvement.

Another patient had dealt with chronic neck pain for seven to ten years. She had seen multiple providers over that time. After working together, she told me that this was the first year she had gone to her primary care appointment without needing a refill of her muscle relaxer — because she hardly used them anymore.

Those moments are exactly why I opened my own practice.

My Education, Training, and Experience

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Bellarmine University.

Most of my clinical experience has been in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, and I also have experience in acute care, sub-acute care, and emergency department therapy settings.

My additional training includes vestibular disorders, concussion management, IASTM, and kinesiotaping.

At Mindful Motion Physio, I help people with:

  • Back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Injury recovery

  • TMJ and jaw pain

  • Dizziness and vertigo

  • Concussion symptoms

  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain

  • Balance and mobility limitations

  • Recurring issues that need maintenance care

Some patients come to me because physical therapy did not work the way they hoped before. Others come because they want help before pain or mobility problems get worse.

Either way, my job is to help you stop guessing and start understanding what may be contributing.

Beyond the clinic

Before becoming a physical therapist, I swam competitively at the University of Indianapolis. Movement has always been part of my life, and that shapes how I think about care. It is not just about reducing symptoms in a treatment room. It is about helping you move with more confidence in your actual life.

I am also a Master Reiki Practitioner and offer Reiki as a separate service for relaxation and stress reduction. Reiki is not physical therapy and does not replace medical care, but it can be a supportive option for people looking for a calmer, restorative experience.

Outside of work, I like to craft, spend time outdoors, and spend time with my husband, our three children, and our dog.
