Physical Therapy FAQs

These physical therapy frequently asked questions often come up in my office in Sellersburg IN.

If you are considering care at Mindful Motion Physio, you may have questions about insurance, pricing, referrals, what Alex Dilger, PT, DPT, treats, and how one-on-one physical therapy works.

These physical therapy FAQs in Sellersburg are here to help you feel informed before booking.

Do you take insurance?

Mindful Motion does not bill insurance directly.

Mindful Motion is a cash-based physical therapy practice, which means payment is due at the time of service. We can provide a superbill that non-Medicare patients may submit to insurance for possible reimbursement or deductible credit.

Reimbursement is not guaranteed.

What is cash-based physical therapy?

Cash-based physical therapy means you pay Mindful Motion directly at the time of service instead of having Mindful Motion bill insurance.

This model allows us to provide one-on-one, full-hour sessions focused on your goals, your function, and what your body needs that day.

Patients may pay with cash, card, HSA, or FSA.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance company if you want to request possible reimbursement or deductible credit.

A superbill may include provider information, service details, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and payment confirmation.

Submitting a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. Your insurance plan decides whether anything is reimbursed or applied to your deductible.

Can I use HSA or FSA?

Yes. Mindful Motion accepts HSA and FSA payments.

If you are unsure whether your plan will cover your visit, check with your HSA or FSA administrator before your appointment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what is going on, how long it has been happening, your goals, and how your body responds to care.

Some people need only a few visits. Others benefit from a longer plan or periodic maintenance care.

At your first visit, we will talk with you about what she sees, what may be contributing, and what kind of plan may make sense.

What if my pain changes between appointments?

That is okay. Bodies change.

One day your neck may be the main issue. Another day your back, jaw, balance, or another area may need attention.

Because your care is one-on-one, we can adjust the session based on what is affecting you that day while still keeping the larger plan in mind.

What if I have Medicare?

Mindful Motion is not enrolled with Medicare.

For Medicare beneficiaries, Mindful Motion does not submit claims to Medicare. Patients also cannot submit claims, invoices, receipts, or statements to Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans for reimbursement.

If you have Medicare and have questions before scheduling, please contact us.

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not need a doctor’s referral to schedule physical therapy with us.

Alex Dilger is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and provides direct access physical therapy.

If you plan to submit a superbill to insurance, your insurance plan may have its own referral requirements. If reimbursement matters to you, check with your insurance company before your appointment.

What makes private physical therapy different?

At Mindful Motion, your physical therapy session is one-on-one for a full hour.

You work with Alex Dilger, PT, DPT, the entire time. You are not passed between providers, left alone with a generic exercise sheet, or rushed through a standard clinic routine.

This gives Alex time to listen, assess, provide hands-on care, explain what may be contributing, and adjust your plan based on how your body responds.

A full hour changes what is possible.

What if I have more than one area of pain?

That is common.

Pain may show up in one place, but your body moves as a system. We can help assess how different areas may be connected and prioritize what is most affecting your function.

Do you offer Reiki?

Yes. Reiki is available as a separate supportive service for stress reduction and relaxation.

Reiki is not physical therapy. It does not diagnose, prescribe, perform medical treatment, or replace medical care.

You can learn more on the Reiki & Energy Work Information page.

What conditions do you treat?

Alex provides one-on-one physical therapy for people dealing with:

Back pain
Neck pain
Orthopedic pain and injury recovery
TMJ and jaw pain
Clicking, popping, or locking jaw
Dizziness and vertigo
Balance concerns
Concussion symptoms
Chronic musculoskeletal pain
Mobility limitations
Recurring issues that need maintenance care

If you are not sure whether your concern is a fit, contact us before scheduling.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit is a full-hour physical therapy evaluation.

Alex will listen to what is going on, ask about your symptoms and goals, assess how your body moves, and begin building a plan around what you need.

When time allows, treatment usually begins during the first session.

For a fuller walkthrough, visit our New Patient Info page.

What if physical therapy is not the right fit?

If Alex does not think physical therapy is the right fit, she will tell you.

She may recommend that you follow up with another healthcare provider, seek additional evaluation, or consider a different next step.

Honest guidance is part of good care.
