What is One-on-One Physical Therapy

At Mindful Motion, one-on-one physical therapy means your appointment is focused on you from start to finish.

You are not passed between providers. You are not left alone with a generic exercise sheet. You are not limited to only the body part that hurts that day.

You get a full hour with Alex to look at what hurts, how your body moves, what may be contributing, and what needs to happen next.

Your session may include:

  • Physical therapy evaluation

  • Whole-body movement assessment

  • Hands-on manual therapy

  • Mobility and strength work

  • Functional movement training

  • Education

  • A personalized home exercise program

  • Care that can adapt from visit to visit

The goal is to help you stop guessing, better understand your body, and move with more confidence in daily life.

Physical Therapy Evaluation

Your first visit starts with a full-hour physical therapy evaluation. Alex listens to what is going on, asks about your symptoms and goals, looks at how your body moves, and begins building a plan around what you need.

You leave with a clearer understanding of what may be contributing, what areas you will work on, and what your next steps look like.

What Physical Therapy Can Help With

Pain, dizziness, jaw symptoms, concussion recovery, and movement limitations can show up in different ways. These are some of the most common reasons people schedule physical therapy at Mindful Motion.

Back Pain and Neck Pain

Back pain and neck pain can disrupt sleep, work, movement, and daily life in ways that add up fast.

Alex does not only look at the spot that hurts. She looks at how your spine, joints, muscles, mobility, posture, work habits, and movement patterns may be working together — because that whole picture often matters more than the painful area alone.

Good fit if you are dealing with: back pain, neck pain, stiffness, disc-related pain, pain with lifting or sitting, recurring flare-ups, or headaches connected to neck tension.

TMJ and Jaw Pain

Many people do not realize physical therapy can help with jaw pain — but it can.

TMJ-focused care at Mindful Motion looks at how your jaw, neck, posture, and muscle tension may be connected. Care may include hands-on work at the jaw, base of the skull, and surrounding tissue, along with exercises and education to support better function between visits.

Good fit if you are dealing with: jaw pain or tension, clicking or popping, jaw locking, difficulty opening or closing your mouth evenly, headaches near the temples or base of the skull, or neck tension connected to jaw symptoms.

Vestibular Therapy and Vertigo

Dizziness and vertigo can make daily life feel uncertain fast. Getting out of bed, turning your head, walking through a store, or driving can suddenly feel harder than it should.

Alex is vestibular-trained and provides focused assessment to help identify what may be contributing to dizziness, vertigo, or balance concerns. Care may include positional testing, canalith repositioning for BPPV, balance work, gaze stabilization, and movement retraining.

Good fit if you are dealing with: dizziness, vertigo, BPPV, feeling unsteady, balance concerns, symptoms that change with head movement, or symptoms following a vestibular event or diagnosis.

Concussion Recovery

Concussion symptoms can be invisible to everyone around you and still deeply disruptive to your daily life.

You may be dealing with headaches, dizziness, light sensitivity, balance issues, neck pain, fatigue, or difficulty returning to work, school, or exercise. Alex has personal experience with concussion recovery and brings both clinical training and genuine empathy to this work. Concussion rehab at Mindful Motion may address movement, balance, neck involvement, and vestibular symptoms that are contributing to what you are experiencing.

Good fit if you are dealing with: lingering concussion symptoms, persistent headaches, dizziness after a head injury, balance changes, neck pain following a concussion, or difficulty returning to normal activity.

Orthopedic Pain and Injury Recovery

Orthopedic pain and injuries affect how you move, compensate, work, exercise, and get through your day.

Alex works with patients recovering from strains, sprains, overuse injuries, joint pain, and recurring flare-ups across the shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, back, neck, and more. Care is built around function — what hurts, how you move, and what you need to get back to doing.

Good fit if you are dealing with: shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle pain, sports or activity-related injuries, overuse injuries, post-surgical rehab, or recurring pain that keeps interrupting what you want to do.

Chronic Pain and Maintenance Care

You do not have to wait until pain is unbearable to come in.

Some patients come to Mindful Motion in the middle of a flare-up. Others come for periodic check-ins — before a big trip, during marathon training, when grandkids are visiting, or just to make sure things are still moving in the right direction. Maintenance care is real care. It can help you stay ahead of recurring issues and keep doing the things that matter to you.

Good fit if you are dealing with: chronic musculoskeletal pain, recurring flare-ups, mobility limitations, physical demands from work or caregiving, or a desire to stay active and manage issues before they get worse.

Is Mindful Motion the right fit?

Mindful Motion may be a good fit if you are looking for:

  • One-on-one attention from a physical therapist

  • A full-hour appointment, every visit

  • Hands-on care and whole-body assessment

  • A plan that adapts from visit to visit

  • Cash-based care with HSA/FSA options and superbills available

  • A provider who will tell you honestly if PT is not the right next step

Mindful Motion may not be the right fit if you are looking for insurance-billed PT, emergency medical care, or a passive treatment approach that requires no active participation in your own recovery.

If Alex does not think physical therapy is the right fit, she will tell you.
